I’m underage. What do I need to do to take the test?
In Utah, you can be 16 or 17 and take the GED® test if you meet the following requirements:
- You have been formally withdrawn from the public secondary school system and have completed the HSE Candidate and Adult Education Eligibility form. This form is obtained from Utah public high schools, charter schools or special purpose residential schools and should be turned into a Utah state-sponsored adult education program.
- If you are 16, in addition to completing the withdrawal form, you must access a Utah state-sponsored adult education program for verification of academic readiness necessary to take the GED® tests.
For those testing on the *Online Exam:
- A parent or guardian must be present at the pre-test check-in to give consent and authorize the underage tester to be recorded during testing. If the parent or guardian is not present, the exam session will be revoked.
*Some Online Testing restrictions may apply. Please visit your GED student portal for more information.
Do I need to prove I’m a resident of Utah to take the test?
